For at least a week I haven’t been able to hear any sound on my iPhone. Or maybe it was just the phone audio. Maybe it was longer than that. I can’t really say. I use it for web and email and SMS much more often than anything else.
I was basically convinced I’d have to visit the Apple store for support (annoying because there isn’t one close by) but I finally took the time to search the web for some troubleshooting tips and, lo and behold, I found a solution.
Thanks to Damon Clinkscales (really?) for his post ”iPhone: I Can’t Hear Anything” (which was in turn formed around this discussion on the Apple site).
There’s a joke about recursive linking and blogging in there, but I can’t seem to put it together just now.
Anyway, the procedure (insert headphone jack, slowly remove) worked just fine, though every time I plugged in the headphones, my phone picked a random song and started playing it for me. (Thanks?)
